A family practice place

Help your child practice planning for an AI-shaped future.

FirstTasks gives your family a structured place to set goals, plan, prioritize, act, finish, and reflect—with your guidance.

The tool is a place to practice planning and follow-through. It is not the skill itself, and it does not guarantee future readiness.

A repeatable family rhythm

Practice the whole loop

Use each step to make the next piece of real work visible, then look back together.

  1. Goal
  2. Plan
  3. Prioritize
  4. Act
  5. Finish
  6. Reflect

Parent-guided, child-practiced

A clear place for each person

Parents shape the practice

Create goals and subgoals, connect family tasks, and decide which work a child can complete.

Children work through what is theirs

Children can see and complete their authorized tasks while the family keeps the larger plan in view.

Support that can change

Use the scaffolds your family wants

Stars, parent-defined rewards, and the pet are optional supports that may help while a routine is new. Parents know their children best: you can adjust the supports your family uses and let them recede as independent planning grows.

There is no universal schedule or parenting method here. Pet health, stars, rewards, and access are not pressure, punishment, or a guaranteed behavior mechanism.

The real product

Plan and prioritize: parents create family tasks and children complete the tasks authorized for them.
FirstTasks goal-progress interface showing connected goals, subgoals, and tasks
Keep the larger purpose visible: parents can connect a child's goals, subgoals, and tasks.
FirstTasks pet-game interface with a pet, care controls, and item tray
An optional pet experience lets children use earned points through authenticated, server-authoritative game routes.

A note from the founder

Why I built FirstTasks

I'm Joseph Jo, a lawyer, software developer, and father in the San Francisco Bay Area. I built FirstTasks for my son because I wanted him to have a practical place to practice planning, prioritizing, and following through. As I developed it, I came to believe other families should have access to the same kind of tool.

Working in the Bay Area taught me how much planning, prioritization, and follow-through matter in serious work. That is personal motivation for building a practice place—not evidence of a promised result.

Built for family trust

Parents stay in the guiding role

A parent authorizes each child account. Children sign in with a username and PIN, and FirstTasks does not collect a child's real email.

When completed work earns stars, the points are recorded server-side in an append-only ledger. Parents define any real-world rewards their family offers.

Honest answers

Questions parents may have

Does FirstTasks teach planning by itself?

No. FirstTasks is a structured place for children to practice planning and follow-through with parental guidance. The product is not the skill and does not guarantee future readiness.

Do we have to use stars, rewards, or the pet?

No. They are optional, parent-adjustable supports. Parents can choose what fits their child and let those supports recede without following a prescribed schedule.

How do child accounts protect privacy?

A parent authorizes the account, and the child uses a username and PIN. FirstTasks does not collect the child's real email.
